Dear Sister Hawley,  I am so sad at your passing but so happy for you and Rev. Hawley being together again.  You were there when we got married in your livingroom, helping me get dressed before hand.  Remember when my pearl necklace broke...you fixed it with a safety pin!  Then you were beside me to nudge me into that walk to the alter the day Jesus saved me.  When I woke up from my cancer scare surgery, there you and dear Carolyn were.   Remember the time all the men folk went to teen camp and we had a girl’s slumber party at Carolyn’s.  You were a riot!  You even coaxed us to go to CVS in our jammies!  Your stories, wonderful dinners, the Sunday evening hymn sings and popcorn at your house!  The memories just flood my mind!  But among the things that stand out are your beautiful singing voice and piano talent.  Oh how I loved to sing with you!   Wayne and I are going to miss you and your love as family you shared with us.  Thank you.  You and the Rev. will forever have a place in our hearts. 😢

She is very kind hearted person! I always enjoyed talking with her  at church! She always welcome you there! With hugs and smiles! Rest in peace . Very nice person!💟

I love Mama  so much.  When she and Daddy were Work and Witness coordinators for the Church of the Nazarene Latino Church in Arizona we became Cowboy Buddies.  My since departed husband and I worked on the projects with them.  They came to our house every Wednesday wearing their cowboy outfits.  We watched old cowboy movies together and then ate supper.  We talked  and talked and laughed on those days.  Lately Mama and I talked and talked on the phone when Mama was up to it.  I will truly miss her.

I always think of her at Thanksgiving and her and Uncle Lyle (the out-laws)would take a nap after dinner.   And how at her house dinner was special because she used beautiful platters as plates. And you could always count on a hug.

After my mother died in 1982 Mama Hawley stepped up to me and said call me Mama. She was the sweet and best person you could ask for. Always watching after the grandchildren and talking with me when I needed her. I love you and miss you a whole lot.
Be happy with Jesus, Daddy, our Billy and the rest of your family and friends.

You can't think of Grandma Hawley with out remembering Grandpa too. Grandpa and Grandma became part of our family while they were attending Maryvale Church of the Nazarene in Phoenix.  Having them in our church family was such a wonderful blessing.  We started our ministry in Maryvale in 2004 and were immediately accepted and loved by Grandpa and Grandma.  Our 4 children were also embraced and grew because of their love and interest.  

When we once asked if they wanted to come over to our home after church on a Sunday night, Grandma said "No, we are going on a date tonight.  We go to McDonald's and sit in a booth in a corner.  We sit  on the same side, real close together.  We get french fries and one milk shake and share them. "  Such a simple outing, turned into a special occasion because two people loved one another so much and made time for each other and looked forward to their special "date".  

Always smiling and asking about others, Grandma and Grandpa never complained.  All their concerns were turned over to the Lord and they went on in faith and assurance that the concern was in the hands of the one who could handle it.  

My kids were amazed with Grandma's story about walking to school and the road was being tarred.  She and her brother would pick up little pieces of tar that fell along side the road and chew them like chewing  gum.  She said they couldn't afford gum, so the tar was a great alternative.  

Grandma Hawley is the only person I know that likes nacho cheese on chocolate cake.  Once when they were at our home for Sunday dinner, I served chocolate cake, and Grandma was comfortable enough to ask if we had any nacho cheese.  I thought this an odd request with dessert, but she said it was her favorite way to eat chocolate cake.  We remembered that at her birthday time and presented her a chocolate cake and container of nacho cheese. She lit up and was delighted. 

To this day, thinking of Grandma and Grandpa Hawley brings me joy.   

I knew the Hawley's my whole life. So sorry for your loss. The Hawley's was special people. 

Having grown up on the District we knew  of the Hawleys but it was on our first family Mission Trip to Arizona with the NWIL District team that we met them and came to appreciate their passion for sharing the Good News of Jesus.  Eleanor spent time with us...sitting around the long table playing games with us and our children...investing her love and attention in them and us...telling of God’s faithfulness in her and her husband’s lives and that we can trust Him with our lives.  Our thoughts and love are with her  family.  

I met her once she was very nice .sorry for the loss 

Although I only met you once at your daughters wedding, I do remember you. You raised a beautiful daughter. God gave you a wonderful life in missions and has a special place in heaven for you. 

I first met Eleanor at church.  We became close friends right away.  She had such a warm, loving heart and soul.  I loved her stories about her life with"Daddy" her beloved husband.  How they met, married and life with their children and the many adventures in their life together serving their Jesus. 
I just loved her dearly.  My life is so much richer for knowing and having her in my life.  I will miss her.  My heart is sad and has an empty spot without her.  Thru all that, I know she is happy and at peace in the loving heart of our savior.  

I will see you again my dear friend.  Love you.  🌹

Sister Hawley was a very sweet person. Always there giving a loving hug.When needed. I loved her very much. I remember when I fist came to Northside  Church. Her and Brother Hawley were there to welcome me. When my husband started coming to church with me. She wecolmed him and did her best to make him feel welcome. I will truly miss her. 


I have so many wonderful memories.   I remember meeting Uncle Richard and Aunt Eleanor in Illinois on our way back to Wyoming for lunch.   It was so wonderful to see them and spend such a wonderful luncheon.  They both meant and still mean so much to me today.   I still miss Uncle Richard's phone calls saying he just wanted to say 'Hi' and that he loved me.   Aunt Eleanor would call and we would reminisce about the past and discuss lots of pictures.    They were both a wonderful example for a wonderful Christian life.   My husband Bill and Uncle Richard were both in the Navy and really got along well.    They are both missed by so many.
