He was born March 12,1956 in Hawthorne, CA to Gustav and Sharon Oesterle.
Gus attended Warren High School in Downey, CA. He enlisted in the United States Coast Guard on March 29, 1974 where he spent four years on the USCGC Glacier. He did two tours on the Glacier to the Arctic Circle, one in 1976 the other 1977; as well as one to the Antarctic in 1975. Gus was Honorably Discharged from the USCG on March 28, 1978, but remained on active duty for an additional two years through March 28, 1980. Gus mentioned many times throughout his life that he didn't know where he would be today if it weren't for the time spent in the Service.
During one of his leaves, Gus met the love of his life and the woman who he would spend the rest of his life with, Linda Sinclair, at his close friend and her sister's wedding. They were married in Las Vegas, NV on August 31, 1978. They had one daughter, Colleen Oesterle, and also raised their granddaughter, Tristen Oesterle who is now 12 years old.
After the Coast Guard, Gus was employed in the electrical wholesale and sales business in Southern California. Gus' passion was cooking and in July 2001, they made the decision to purchase a small Italian restaurant in Bullhead City, AZ and try their hands at business ownership. Gus and Linda made a name for themselves with Antonucci's Restaurant in Bullhead City for 16 years. Gus was exceptionally proud that the Tri-State community residences voted Antonucci's "Best Italian Restaurant" for seven years in a row. During that time many good friends and customers were made. It caused them much grief to have to close the restaurant in 2014.
Gus is survived by his wife of 39 years, Linda Oesterle of Bullhead City; their daughter, Colleen Oesterle; his grandchildren, Tristen Oesterle, Jimmie Tigert and Jaydn Tigert; his sisters, Ronda Betts and Carol Souza; as well as his sister and brother in-laws and several nieces and nephews.
