Lee was born in 192 60 Lloyd and Alma (Weigt) Quandt in Allen Park, Michigan. After high school
Graduation she worked at Kresge’s in downtown Detroit. There she met her future husband Harvey,
who was a fellow Kresge employee. They married in 1953 and she became a full time home maker.
She always said that’s when life became interesting. They remained in Detroit for two years, then were
transferred to Moline, IL; Davenport, IA; Two Rivers, WI; Rapid City, SD; Bakersfield, CA; last stop being
Scottsdale and Phoenix where Harvey, as K-Mart store manager, received awards for having the highest
sales per week for K-Mart. Lee’s favorite place to have lived was Rapid City, which she said was truly to
be called God’s country. After Harvey’s retirement from K-Mart they traveled the world, and were able
to fill one whole wall in their home with pictures of them in different countries.
Lee was confirmed and faithful Lutheran- her faith in God was string and it showed in her personality.
She never had a bad thing to say about anyone and very rarely raised her voice for any reason. Everyone
who knew her loved her for her sweet personality.
Lee was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Alma (Weigt) Quandt, her husband Harvey, her
brother Robert, and niece and nephew. She is survived by nephews Robert (Catherine) Lorenz, and
Richard Lorenz, and nieces Ann Huyler, and Jennifer Huyler, and several great nephews and nieces.
Grateful thanks are given to the caring staffs of The Beatitudes At Home and Sage Hospice. Their loving
Care of Lee kept her in peace and comfort at home in her final days.
A memorial service will be held at The Beatitudes on November 12, 2019 at 10:00 AM.
