Modestyne Eunice Williams "Styne"

Modestyne Eunice Williams, affectionately called Styne, born on July 27th, 1943 in San Antonio, TX, was the oldest of six children to Aaron Ellis and Marie Anita Branch. Her grandparents, Henry Edward and Lullaby Pettit raised her in Lockhart, TX. She graduated in 1962 from George Washington Carver High School in Lockhart, TX. While at George Washington Carver High, Styne was active on the Drill Team for the Green Hornets Football Team and very well-liked by her team mates and friends.

Styne had a passion for helping women to look her best. In the early 1960's, she moved to Austin, TX where she obtained a cosmetology license. One of her most notable clients was Lady Bird Johnson, the Former First Lady of the United States, wife of President Lyndon B. Johnson.

She did hair all over Central, TX until meeting the one and only love of her life, John Wesley Williams (affectionately known as "My Sweet, Sweet John, my first, my last, my everything"), in Luling, TX, they were married December 18, in 1963. John joined the Army, where Styne, as a military wife, was able to travel the world with her husband, Sergeant First Class John Wesley Williams. Their military travels took them from Texas to various places like California, Hawaii, Vietnam, Germany, and Arizona just to name a few. To this union, in 1969 her "golden child, her pumpkin," Monika Monique Williams was born.

Styne professed her Christianity as a young girl at St. James AME Church in Lockhart, TX. She remained a faithful follower of Christ all of her life. When they settled in Phoenix, Arizona, she attended Tanner AME Church until she moved to Maricopa, AZ. While in Maricopa, she became a faithful member of ACTS Christian Center where she shared the unconditional love of God with everyone.

On the evening of February 14, 2021, Modestyne extended her hand to God, going home to be with the her beloved husband and best friend of 55 years, John Williams, her parents Aaron Ellis and Marie Anita Branch, her grandparents (Henry Edward and Lullaby Pettit), her two sisters: (Oscar Marie Cheetham, and Linda Gail Watson), all having preceded her in death.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her daughter, Monika Monique Caldwell [Lyle Caldwell]; her siblings Henry Branch, Wanda Johnson, Will Branch [Darlene]; three grandchildren, Cameron (Cam), Marissa (Pooda), and Brian (Bebo); two great grandsons, John (Bump) and Cameron Jr (Lil Cam) and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and a warm circle of extended family, friends, and neighbors.
