Darlene Henson was born in Jamestown, N.D., to Paul and Eva Feickert. The first of seven children, she was later joined by Dick, Connie, Jerry, Schaunene, Ike and Glen. At the age of 18, Darlene’s family moved
to Vanport, and saw hardship shortly after when they lost everything in the Vanport flood.
She was married to Eldon Lee Henson Sr. until his passing in 2015. The couple had four children together: Lee, Rick, Ron and Darla. Later the family grew, and Darlene got to enjoy eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Darlene was a candy striper at Portland Adventist Hospital for a number of years, enjoying her volunteer work greatly. She had a “get it done” attitude about everything and knew how to make sure her family had what they needed. Even the neighborhood kids could rely on Darlene to make sure they were looked after.
Darlene is loved and will be missed by the many lives she touched; family and all.
