

DOROTHY SHORT-VAUGHN our beloved mother went to be with our Lord on Friday December 22, 2017 after 99 wonderful years on this earth. Dorothy was born in Gaddo Gap, Arkansas on November 22nd 1918 to Allie and George Carter. Dorothy married Andrew Zack Short from Nashville, Arkansas on November 24th 1937 in Glenwood, Arkansas. The couple moved to California and raised six children. Dorothy was preceded in death by A.Z., her husband of 44 years in June of 1981. Dorothy was preceded in death by her siblings, six brothers and three sisters. Dorothy was also preceded in death by her second husband of 12 years Johnny Vaughn of Arkansas in February of 2009. Dorothy was preceded in death by her son Glen Short, and her daughter Betty Sullivan, and a grandson Clint Short. She is survived by her daughters Opal and husband John Gadberry, Carolyn and husband Dan Hall, Joan and husband Craig Binkley, and Judy and husband Ken Pennington. Dorothy is also survived by 13 grandchildren, Steve, Mike, Brad, Ron, Brenda, Kenneth, Christine, Karen, Jason, Heather, Michelle, and Kelly, as well as 28 great-grandchildren, and 22 great-great grandchildren. Dorothy was a member of the Toledo Washington Church of Christ. Dorothy resided in Silverlake, Washington for the past eight years with her daughter Opal and her husband John, who was devoted to her and she had a very full and active life. She attended Bible study and Worship Services regularly. Dorothy loved shopping and eating out at restaurants. She loved her coffee and her favorite foods were lemon pie, tacos, and turnip greens. Dorothy drew people to her everywhere she went. She was loved by many friends, and her family. A memorial will be held at the Toledo Church of Christ on January 7, 2018 and burial will be in Arkansas at Mountain Home Cemetery at a later date.
