George Schnitzer

George was born February 6, 1929 in Newport, RI to Robert and Alice Lawton Schnitzer. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War and graduate of Stanford University. George was author of “Panthers over Korea”, a biography of his Navy experience in the Korean War. He devoted much of his time as a volunteer with the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum.

George was survived by his wife, Joan Brazier; brother, Rev. William Schnitzer (Cal) of New York; Bob Schnitzer (Jody) of Laguna Niguel, CA; sister, Carol Magruder of Portland, OR; step children, Barb Dawson (Jeff) of Raleigh; Scott Brazier (Julie) of Chicago, IL; Jeff Brazier (Angela) of Atlanta, GA.

A memorial service will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday, April 19, 2010 at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 1701 E. Millbrook Road, Raleigh, NC 27609. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home. Inurnment will be held later at Arlington National Cemetery.
