

He served in the Pacific Theatre during WWII as an airplane mechanic. His bomb group dropped the atomic bomb, which helped force Japan’s surrender, ending the war.
He retired from a 30-year career with the City of Raleigh Public Utilities Dept. as a sewer operations supervisor. After retirement he began Rogers Tapping Service which he ran with a son for 15 years.
He is survived by his wife, Ellen, two sons, Paul G. Rogers (Sandra), Danny W. Rogers, two daughters, Bertha Lee Pardue (Wayne) and Paula G. Rogers, six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren, two brothers also survive, Boyd Rogers of Andrews, N.C. and Harold Rogers of Cary.
The family thanks these four Walmarts and their kind and compassionate greeters and sales associates: Morrisville Walmart, Apex Walmart, New Hope Road Raleigh Walmart, and 401 S. Walmart Raleigh. Mr. Rogers enjoyed visiting these stores and walking through them as long as his health permitted.
A graveside service will be at Raleigh Memorial Park (Mitchell Funeral Home), 7501 Glenwood Avenue (Hwy 70) Raleigh at noon Friday March 18th.
