It is with sadness that we announce Lorne’s passing on March 12, 2018 at the age 76. Predeceased by his parents Aloys and Elizabeth Stockbrugger and brother Larry. Lorne is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Gail; his sons Barry (Shanna) and grandchildren Jessica and Kaden; Brent (Lisa) and grandchildren Reed and Lexi and Brian and grandchildren Kaitlynn (Andrew) and Hailey, and one great granddaughter Aria.
Lorne was born in Romance, Saskatchewan on June 30, 1941 and grew up in Leroy, Saskatchewan with siblings Caroline (Ken), Larry (Shirley), Ken (Francis), Colleen (Ken), and Carmen (Wayne).
He worked in road construction when he met Gail. They were married on July 11, 1964 in Lumsden where they raised their three sons and over 300 foster children. He was a devoted husband and father and a longtime member of the Roman Catholic Church in Lumsden.
After many years of road construction, he moved to long-haul trucking which took him from coast to coast in Canada and the US. Lorne was an avid ball player and member of the Old Time Rockers hockey team. He enjoyed curling and was a dedicated fan of the Saskatchewan Roughriders and Toronto Maple Leafs. Stretch loved coaching hockey and baseball in Lumsden where he made an impact on his players and the community.
Lorne loved to talk and make speeches whether it was at family gatherings or pregame pep talks. He always spoke the truth and from the heart.
Lorne and Gail enjoyed many years of travelling to Mesa Arizona to escape the Saskatchewan winters.
