

Curt was born on April 28, 1945, in Minneapolis, MN. He was baptized as a child and confirmed on March 15, 1959, into the Methodist church and remained a lifelong child of God. He graduated from Bloomington High School in 1963 and spent the next two years working for IDS.
In 1965, he enlisted in the Air Force and would serve his country as an Air Traffic Controller based in Germany until 1968. In 1969, he returned to the Twin Cities to begin a career with the FAA as an Air Traffic Controller. He met Donna Johnson in 1970 and they were married in Spicer, MN, on June 26, 1971. They moved to Rosemount to raise their family. In 1981, Curt went back to school to pursue a career in computers, briefly moving with his family to Oklahoma while he was in school. The family returned to Rosemount and Curt worked for American Express in Minneapolis from 1981 until his retirement in 2006, finishing his career as an IT architect. In 2004, Curt and Donna moved to their dream home on West Jefferson Lake near Mankato. Many happy memories were shared at this home with their children, grandchildren, family and friends. In 2018, Curt and Donna moved back to the Twin Cities, settling in Savage to be closer to family and friends.
Curt enjoyed many activities and was always busy with something. He particularly loved boating, fishing, gardening, snowmobiling, watching movies, playing cards, and spending time with family. He taught countless children to waterski behind his boat and passed his love of the lake onto his children and grandchildren. He took special pride in his tomatoes and loved to compare his crop to others. He was adored by many nieces and nephews and was affectionately known as “Chuggy” within the Anderson family. He was an active member in the Lutheran church throughout his married life. He was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in 1996, but always had a cheerful attitude despite increasing treatments for the disease in recent years. He particularly enjoyed becoming a grandpa and doted on his six grandchildren whenever he had the chance.
Curt is survived by his wife of 48 years, Donna; his sons, Chad (Julie) Anderson of Waseca, MN, Brian (Valerie) Anderson of Lakeville, MN, and Ryan Anderson of Burnsville, MN; his daughter, Kristi (Brian) Lauer of Rogers, MN; brother, Larry (Barb) Anderson; sisters, Doris Nicka, Ruth Anderson, and Julie (Tom) Stinson; and brother-in-law, James Peterson. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Kimberly, Jack, Reed, Todd, Davis, and Kennedy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Esther Anderson; brothers, Norman “Gus” Anderson and James “Jimmy” Anderson; and sister, Norma “Toppy” Peterson.
Curt was called home to be with Jesus on August 17, 2019, after a brief illness following complications from surgery. Funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, August 28, 2019, at St. James Lutheran Church, 3650 Williams Dr., Burnsville, MN, with visitation at 10:00am. Interment Fort Snelling National Cemetery.He had many family and friends who were blessed to know this special man. Memorials will be donated to thyroid cancer research at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester.
