I've known your family for a long time but  never really was able to know Rick very much except through you, his brothers and sisters.  I was always surprised that at the reunions he always remembers my name and always gave me a friendly hello and how ya doin!                     

You were all your brother's keeper. Wishing you much peace and love.  Carry on....you've paid it forward!  

What I remember about my home life and growing up is being surrounded by love.


Generosity, community, kindness are the principles that were integrated in every aspect of our lives, at home, school and with friends.


When Rick was born Mom had trepidation when naming Rick after Dad.

“Being named after his Father is a lot to live up to.”

Even though there were times that Rick drove me crazy—I believe that he lived up to who our Father was, our Father’s attributes and modeled behavior. Rick had the challenge of in the medical world lingo, a dual diagnosis. Mental health disease and substance abuse. I am very proud to state that our brother controlled his habit of using drugs and alcohol for many years. He did this on his own. Rick struggled with his mental illness. We do not know enough about how our brain works. Rick tried to live his life as he identified himself, a carpenter with a sense of humor and a productive member of society. I believe Rick’s mental health disease did not allow him to see himself as I saw him...and many others saw him. Over the last fifteen years he gradually allowed our brothers and sisters support him in so many ways. I thank all who helped Rick. I thank you from the bottom of my heart. We have lived our parents legacy of love, generosity, kindness and community. Our parents would be proud of how we allowed Rick his dignity that all human beings deserve. I am comforted by the recent events that surrounded Rick. His initiating a prayer with his sisters and niece. His breakfast paid for by a stranger when he was with his brother. Premonitions of something? I am also comforted that his injured arm no longer controls him.
I am grateful to have had the privilege of being born into my beautiful family. May our brother Richard Robert LaDuke Rest In Peace.

Rest in peace you were always a nice person  will miss you .

Condolences to your whole family. Just loved visiting you all when you were all together and a lot younger. Your mom and dad were the best.

Richard was one of the sweetest, kindest men I ever met.  He always had a smile for his neighbors and friends.  He loved working at Kroger and missed it greatly.
