Charles Carroll Bittle

Born February 4th, 1935 in Arcadia, Louisiana Charles went by many names, Husband, Father, Brother, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, Sargent, Professor, and Friend. His greatest treasure was his family. He loved sharing his experiences through his story-telling.

Charles joined the Marines and headed off to fight in the Korean War. Upon his return home, he attended Wharton County Junior College where he met and married the love of his life, Betty Ann Naiser on January 25th, 1958. He completed his Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering at Lamar State College in 1960.

The couple moved to San Antonio where Charles worked as an Electrical Engineer for 29 years before retiring to North Texas. Once in North Texas he became a professor at the University of North Texas, where he completed his education and received his Masters Degree in Electronic Technology at the age of 65. He retired from teaching to enjoy more time with his family. He returned to San Antonio in 2015.

Charles is preceded in death by both parents, Taylor and Beatrice Bittle, sisters, Julia Elizabeth and Mary Lois, brother, James Taylor, granddaughter, Sarah Catherine, daughter-in-laws, Gayla Bittle and Susan Bittle. Charles is survived by his wife of 61 years, Betty Ann Bittle, his sons Charles Bittle, Jr. of Fairbanks, AK, Thomas and Robin Bittle of North Pole, AK, Robert and Michele Bittle of Sofia, Bulgaria, James and Tracie Bittle of San Antonio, TX, 12 grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren.

On February 3rd, a rosary will be held at St Anthony Claret Catholic Church, 6150 Roft Rd, San Antonio, TX 78253, at 10:30am followed by a Mass at 11:00am. On February 4th at 11:30am Charles will be interned at Fort Sam National Cemetery 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, TX 78209.
