William Slater Cleary

Bill was preceded in death by his parents and only sister, Jane Elizabeth Cleary.

He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Helen June Cooke. They were married on September 23, 1967 in the Chapel at Randolph-Macon Academy, Front Royal, Va.

He attended South Kent School, South Kent, CT and graduated from Beverly High School, Beverly, MA. He is a 1963 graduate of Nichols College in Dudley, MA. He received a Bachelor of Business Administration . After college, he served in the US Army from July 1, 1963 – June 30, 1966 as an SSgt E-6, Special Agent in Charge, Front Royal VA Resident Office, Region VI, 109th INTC group.

Bill was employed by Gulf Oil Corporation from July 1966-1984 until the company was purchased by the Chevron Corporation. He retired from Chevron in December, 1999. Bill and Helen started their married life together in Wayne, NJ. From there they lived in Philadelphia, PA, Pittsburgh, PA, Houston, TX , Seoul, Korea, Baltimore and again in Houston. They always enjoyed each move and made good friends. They enjoyed their time in Seoul getting to know the wonderful Korean people. After Helen retired, they moved to Hill Country Retreat in San Antonio in 2007. They really enjoyed the lifestyle at HCR and their many friends.

A memorial service will be held at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery on October 9th at 10:45am
