

She was born in Akron, Ohio on May 1, 1926 to Earl William SR and Catherine Mills. Evelyn graduated from Garfield High School and Hammel Business College both in Akron, Ohio.
She was married to Roy H. Hoffman for 64 years until he passed in 2010.
Evelyn was a volunteer at the Guide Dogs for the Blind in San Rafael for 52 years. She received the President’s Volunteer Service award in 2014 along with a letter of recognition from President Obama. In her 52 years of service to Guide Dogs it is estimated that she handled 40,000 puppies that grew into Guide Dogs for the Blind.
She was a member of St. Luke’s Presbyterian Church in San Rafael, CA
and had a passion for the puppies at Guide Dogs and enjoyed extensive travel here and abroad with her husband.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Hoffman, son Gary Hoffman, brother Earl Mills Jr and her parents. She is survived by Niece Kathy (John) Kendall, Warsaw, IN, Great Niece Shelley (Richard) Ombrembowski, Grants Pass, OR, Great Nephew Joseph Kendall, Warsaw, IN, Goddaughter Robyn (Robert) Focht, Grants Pass, OR and many close friends whom she loved.
A Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 13th from 10am – 12pm at Keaton’s Mortuary in San Rafael with a 1pm entombment at Olivet Memorial Park in Coloma to follow. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, July 14, 2016 at 1pm at St. Luke’s Presbyterian Church in San Rafael.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Guide Dogs for the Blind, 350 Los Ranchitos Rd, San Rafael, CA 94903 and St. Luke’s Presbyterian Church, 10 Bayview Dr., San Rafael, CA 94901.
