Betty Jean Spriggs Betty Jean Spriggs was born on March 14, 1932 to Dollie and John Fulton King. The youngest of 7, she grew to be a strong, gentle woman with a sharp wit. She relocated to Ohio where she balanced the challenges of motherhood with a career in sales. It was in Ohio that she met the love of her life, Robert Spriggs. They eventually were able to move to a home in Sarasota, their favorite vacation spot. She passed away at 10:45 AM on October 10, 2016, with her loving husband at her bedside. She is survived by her Husband of 51 years, Robert Spriggs; children, Becky Helfenstein, Jeffrey Waites, Lori Kanienberg, & Scott Spriggs; stepchildren, Sandy Dumas, Steve Spriggs, & Sheila Nall; 8 grandchildren & 3 (soon to be 4) great-grandchildren. She has touched the lives of many, and will be sorely missed. Her memorial will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 PM with a service at 3 PM on Saturday, November 12 at the National Cremation & Burial Society, 2990 Bee Ridge Road, Sarasota, FL, 34249.
