Earl Jones Kelly III, known to all as Scott, passed away Sunday morning at 47 years. To celebrate his life, a service will be held Saturday, May 12, 2018 at 1 p.m. at National Cremation & Burial Society, 2990 Bee Ridge Road in Sarasota.
Scott was born in Austell, GA on November 12, 1970. He attended South Cobb High School and continued on to receive a bachelor’s degree in Political Science at Kennesaw State University.
His humor and heart will forever be remembered by his best friend and wife of 25 years, Lori, his beautiful daughters, Devyn and Ivey, his parents, Earl J. Kelly Jr. and Sandra Spivey, his step-dad, Jim Spivey, his sisters, Sandy Laughridge and Ashton Ackrill and his dog, Lola.
Scott loved living in Sarasota because he had a passion for fishing, boating and the water. To give back to his home, he and his daughter Ivey delivered meals with Meals on Wheels every Saturday morning.
At the very core of Scott’s values was the belief that all people deserve respect and acceptance. He had a heart for the poor and believed that to whom much is given much is expected. May his love for all people serve as a charge for us to love the same.
The man was a grilling machine. He had a sense of humor that was infectious. He was proud of his Irish roots and his football teams, the Atlanta Falcons and the Florida Gators; but, most of all, he was proud of his family. His daughters were his world.
In lieu of flowers, the family is accepting contributions to a memorial college fund for Devyn and Ivey. To contribute, you can visit www.tinyurl.com/skcollegefund.
