
He was pre-deceased by his parents Frank and Rilla Creighton, his wonderful wife, VIrginia Creighton and his sister, Pauline Brumley.
John is survived by his daughters, Fran Creighton (Marvin Coats) of Horseshoe Bay, Texas and Liz Bumpus (Peter) of Sarasota, his granddaughter, Erin Bumpus, his sister Maryhelen Gates (Everett) of Washington, Iowa, and many nieces and nephews.
An Army veteran and POW of World War II, John was an accomplished musician and singer. He received his Masters degree from Northwestern University and attended the Juilliard School of Music in New York City. John was a voice teacher and music professor at Marshall University in Huntington, W.Va., and served as Choir Director at Trinity Episcopal Church for many years. He relished his role as teacher of so many talented and successful students.
John lived his life full of music, entertainment and friends. He was known for his positive attitude, his giving nature and his enthusiasm for life. He recently enjoyed the celebration of his 98th birthday with his family and friends. The family wishes to express their gratitude to his loving caregivers from Comfort Keepers of Sarasota and Palmer Ranch Assisted Living.
