Paul William Huffman went to be with his Lord on Saturday, March 12, 2011, at his home in Aston Gardens ofPelican Pointe, Venice, FL. Paul was born on January 28, 1920, in Williamstown, WV, the only son of Walter B and Audie Claire (Williams) Huffman.
Paul graduated from Parkersburg High School (Parkersburg, WV) and West Virginia Wesleyan College (Buchanan, WV). He married Jeanne F. Griffith on November 22, 1939. They had three children: Barbara, Jeffrey, and Gregory. Paul served his country in the Army Air Corps during World War II and retired from Washington Works of DuPont in 1982 after 34 years. His last position was that of Senior Chemist.
He and Jeanne moved to Venice, FL, in 1984 and lived in the Fairways of Capri Isles. Jeanne preceded him in death in 1986. In 1988 Paul married Janet Carey, who survives him, and continued to live at the Fairways until he and Jan moved to Aston Gardens in 2006. Besides Jeanne, Paul was preceded in death by his parents and his son Jeffrey. In addition to his widow, he is survived by his daughter Barbara Camp (Alex) and Gregory Huffman.
Paul was well known in West Virginia and Venice as a superb tenor vocalist. In West Virginia, he sang for over 40 years with a male quarter. This quartet served the Lions Club, the Shrine, the Moose, and their home church (First United Methodist in Parkersburg, WV). Paul also sang with and/or conducted other church choirs as well. In Venice, he and Jan were members of the Reformed Community Church Choir and sang with the Sarasota Symphonic Chorus for many years.
Besides music, Paul had an avid passion for golf and he enjoyed his membership at Reformed Community Church.
Paul's life was celebrated during the regular worship service of Reformed Community Church on Sunday, March 20, 2011, with Pastor Neal Busker presiding. His cremains will be interred in the Memorial Garden at the Church.
