Richard, ‘Dick’, Dyer, 84, of Lakewood Ranch, FL passed away on November 20, 2018. Dick was born in Rush County, Indiana on March 29, 1934 and was the son of Walter and Mary (McClintic) Dyer. Dick graduated from Pendleton High School (IN) in 1952, served in the U.S. Army from 1955-1957 and received his B.S. in Finance with honors from Indiana University-Bloomington in 1961. Later, he also received his MBA from Indiana University and earned his Chartered Financial Analyst designation.
Dick spent his entire 30+ year business career with the Indiana National Bank and its successors. He ended his career as a Vice President and Senior Investment Officer. Mr. Dyer was incredibly active in professional organizations and civic affairs. He was the past president of the Indianapolis Society of Financial Analysts, a long-time treasurer of the Rotary Club of Indianapolis (along with being a Paul Harris Fellow) and served a three-year term as the American representative on the Investment Advisory Committee of Rotary International. Dick was also the past president of the Central Indiana Blood Center Foundation, served on the Board of Governors of the Indianapolis Civic Theatre, worked on the Board of Trustees of the Visiting Nurse Foundation and served on the Investment Committee of the United Way of Central Indiana. He was also a member of the Mystic Tie Lodge #398 in Indianapolis and a 33rd member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis. After moving to Florida, Dick was a docent at the John and Mable Ringling Mansion and delivered meals for Meals on Wheels of Sarasota.
In his spare time, Dick, and his wife Pat, did considerable traveling. They visited all fifty states, approximately sixty countries and five continents. He was also an avid Indiana University sports fan and long-suffering Chicago Cubs fan for many years.
Dick is survived by his wife Patricia (McLary) of 59 years, son Gary, daughter-in-law Roxanne and grandson Nicholas. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on December 1, 2018 at The Church of The Palms in Sarasota, FL. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in memory of Dick to the Rotary Foundation of Indianapolis or the Indiana Masonic Home Foundation of Indianapolis.
