Robert X. “Ace” McCann 84, Sarasota formerly of West Chester, PA died August 23, 2011.
A celebration of life will be held at St. Kevin’s Catholic Church, Springfield, PA at 1130 AM on September 7. Interment will be private.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Dolly; sons, Robert and Tim (Carol Ann); daughters, Megan (Joseph) and Jessica (John) and 9 loving grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his son Kevin and daughter in law Susan.
Ace love the game of basketball, played it, coached it at the high school and college level and is a member of the LaSalle University sports Hall of Fame. His point guard skills dazzled fans at the Philadelphia Convention Hall during the post WWII era.
He served in the US Navy during WWII and saw duty in destroyers. He loved all sports and golf became his passion after moving to Sarasota several years ago. Ace especially enjoyed playing with friends and family at the Meadows Country Club.
We will miss his handsome smile, charm and brilliant wit.
