Fernando ""Gar JP Garcia

Funeral service for Fernando (Gar) JP Garcia , age 49 of Gering, NE, who died Tuesday, November 10, 2015 surrounded by his family, at Loveland, CO, will be held Monday, at 10:00 am First Baptist Church in Scottsbluff, NE with Pastor Gary Cole officiating. Burial will be at West Lawn Cemetery in Gering, NE with military honors by the United States Naval Honor Guard. Visitation will be Sunday from 1-6 pm at Dugan Kramer Funeral Chapel. A memorial has been established at Platte Valley Bank and Dugan-Kramer Funeral home. Tributes of sympathy may be left at www.dugankramer.com.

Fernando (Gar) JP Garcia was born February 5, 1966, in Paducah, TX to Fernando Garcia and Lucy Perez Garcia and received his early education in the Gering public schools, graduating from Gering Senior High School in 1984.He was fondly admired by his classmates for his smile and great sense of humor. Gar entered basic training in October, 1984. Then was assigned to the USS Forrestal at Mayport, FL. Position was Electrical/Mechanical Equipment Repairman in the US Navy. He then continued onto the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower Aircraft Carrier out of Norfolk, VA where he was on the first nuclear powered ship that entered the Panama Canal. In 1991 he advanced to Aviation Ordnance man Third Class. He also served with the Navy in numerous countries all around the world. In 1995, Gar was honorably discharged from the US Navy. In 1995 Gar moved to Denver where he lived for two years. In 1997 he moved back to Nebraska where he was employed by A&L Insulation, RWMC (maintenance), MES medical services and Peterson Drug medical services, where he was currently employed. Gar was known for his talents in craft home building. He was a perfectionist and only provided the best in craftsmanship.

His first child was born in 1988, Kassandra Jaso. and through her, he received two grandchildren, Antonio and Carlos.

In 2001 - 2012 he entered into a special relationship with Theresa Ream where two children were born.... 2001, Mikenzie Kay Garcia and 2004, Jonas Drake Garcia.... he loved and adored his children very much.

In 2013 Gar entered into a special relationship with Vickie Walton and her daughter Sarai. Vickie and ""Nando"" shared a very special love for each other. They were true soul mates. He always referred to Vickie as his ""Mi Amor"".

Fernando had many special interests. He was very artistic and loved to draw while listening to artists like George Jones, Johnny Cash, Dwight Yoakam and many others. He loved his Tejano music. He spent his leisure time fishing, drawing and working in his yard, grilling for family and taking life easy. ""Hakuna Matata"" was his life motto. As the only son, he adored and protected his two little sisters. He was always known as the protector for both of them.

Gar was very musically talented. He played the trumpet throughout Jr high and High School. He also played the saxophone guitar and piano. He was also accomplished as a state wrestler.

Survivors include: Children; Kassandra Jaso from San Angelo, TX (Antonio and Carlos, grandchildren). Mikenzie Kay Garcia from Mitchell, NE, Jonas Drake Garcia from Mitchell, NE.

Parents: Fred and Lucy Garcia from Gering, NE

Sister, Trisha Garcia from Gering, NE. nephew, Andrew Neal (Danielle Neil and Titus Neal from Indianapolis, IN) niece, Andrea Neal from Omaha, NE, neice, Karissa Cochrane (great niece, Grace Harvey) from Hastings, NE. sister, Jacqueline Ervin (Jeromie Ervin) from Centennial, CO. niece, Telsa Guzman, nephew, James Michael Guzman, niece, Isabel Guzman and special step nephews and nieces.

Numerous special Aunts and Uncles and Cousins that were dear to his heart. Special cousins, Teri (Martin) Maldonado and Louie (Velma) Perez.

He was preceded in death by his Grandparents, Edwardo and Maria Perez, Francisco and Catarina Garcia. Aunts and Uncles, Gregorio and Rosalinda Guerra, Ernesto Garcia and Frank Garcia. Nephews and Nieces: Salena Kay Cochrane, he had a very special relationship with his niece Salena, playing the role as protector. They are now united in heaven. Cousins: Manual Cortinez Jr.
