Pearl Emily West, 105 years, passed away April 6, 2014, in Richland, Washington just 4 days before her next birthday. She was born April 10, 1908 in Seattle, Washington to parents, Maryett (Heiner) Pilling and James Albert Pilling.
She lived most of her life in Seattle, Washington, but spent the last 8 years in Richland, Washington near the family of her niece. As a resident of Seattle, she attended Oak Lake School, and graduated from Lincoln High School.
Following graduation she worked at G.E. for 6 years. During World War II, she worked for the Office of Sensorship for the U.S. Government. She took pride in the important work of determining which information was safe to include in the mail. Later she worked for 20 years for Rhodes Department Store in the accounting department.
She was married to Carl West on May 24, 1941. He preceded her in death in 1980 after 39 years of marriage. Pearl was also preceded in death by her brother Frank and his wife, June, and by brother Charles and his wife, June. She is survived by many nieces and nephews and their families.
