Billy Walker was a true humanitarian. He loved his friends; he loved his family and most of all, he loved his dog, Badger. Billy had a passion for fishing and rock -n- roll music. Even when they didn’t need a hand he was always there to help a friend in need. Following his service in the US Navy during the Vietnam War, Gunner’s Mate, Walker, received the National Defense Service Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal. Back in civilian life, Billy received the Outstanding Apprentice Award from St. Petersburg Electrical JATC in 1977. In 2001, he earned the Bachelor of Science School of Management degree, Magna Cum Laude, from the State University of New York at Binghamton. Retired in 2009, Billy was a Union Journeyman Electrician for 35 years, best there ever was according to anyone who knew him, and a current member of the American Legion Post 273. Billy will be forever remembered as a dyed-in-the-wool Democrat, a fantastic cook, a loving father to sons Forrest and Robin and a soul-mate to Toni for 46 years. He will be fondly remembered by all.
A gathering of friends and family will be held from 9 until 10 am graveside service with military honors, Saturday, June 23, 2018 at Garden Sanctuary Funeral Home and Cemetery.
