

Died on June 5, 2011 surrounded by his family. Born in Villa Celliera (Italy), he
emigrated to the United States in 1956. He built a successful career in the hospitality industry moving through the ranks of chef and spent many years as Executive Chef in Washington's most prestigious hotels, from the Statler and Washington Hiltons, the Sheraton Carlton, and lastly the George Towne Club. A natural artist, his talents in the industry were widely admired and reflected in spectacular ice carvings and fantasy creations using a variety of natural elements. He was predeceased by his wife, Agata Vento, and his long time companion, Rosalina Riolo. Survivors include devoted daughter, Patricia Violante of Washington DC, a brother, Bruno Violante of Pescara, nephews Alessandro, Antonio, Giampaolo, Giuseppe, and Paolo, and sisters Teresa and Marta. He will greatly be missed by all. A Catholic Mass will be celebrated at the Holy Rosary Church, 595 3rd St., NW, Washington, DC, on Friday, June 10, at 6:30 pm. There will also be a memorial gathering at Demaine Funeral Home, 5308 Backlick Rd., Springfield, VA on Saturday, June 11, from 2 to 4 pm. Internment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Komen Foundation or a charity of your choice.
