16 June, 1924 – 25 March, 2021
Peacefully passed away on Thursday, March 25, 2021 at his home in St. Catharines, in his 97th year. Beloved husband of the late Erika (2017). Loving father of Brian (Chantale Vaillancourt) Vaickus and Linda (James Stuart) Vaickus. Cherished grandfather of Colin (Melisa), Philippe (Catherine), Anthony (Chloé), Jeffery (Rayne), Kaitlin (Kolby) and Veronica (Herschelle). Great-grandfather to Zack and Nathan.
After answering the call to protect his Lithuania from communism and surviving those tumultuous years, he found the love-of-his-life and married in Scotland in 1948. Immigrated to Canada in 1958, he raised his kids in Quebec working at the aluminium smelter he helped to build. Erika and Albert moved to St Catharines in 1987 when he retired after a 30 year career. His most loved activities were golfing with his fellow seniors and square dancing at the local nursing homes to help bring joy to the folks. His quiet humour, immense patience and love of his family will be missed.
Due to current Covid 19 restrictions, cremation has taken place with arrangements entrusted to Hulse & English Funeral Home & Chapel (905-684-6346). A Memorial Service will be held in the future and more details will be announced once it is confirmed. If desired, memorial donations made to Heidehof – The People Place would be appreciated by the family. Online tributes may be made at www.hulseandenglish.com.

I remember Albert and Erica from Baie Comeau. I babysat a couple of times for Brian and Linda when the regular sitter was unavailable. I always remember Albert as being a very quiet, gentle man. Coincidentally I also live in St. Catherine's but never ran into them. What an amazing life he lead, saw history in the making first-hand. Hopefully he related stories to his children and grandchildren for them to pass on to future generations. Rest in peace Albert, you and Erica are reunited once again.

A quiet honest man. I've know him since forever. So sad to hear of his passing. Thinking of you both (Brian and Linda).
