

Rose P. Tretter, age 97, of St. Louis, entered eternal rest on January 20, 2017. She was the beloved wife of the late Ray E. Tretter. Loving mother of Carol (James) Jarzenbeck, Jan (Joe) Szydlowski and Karen (Neil) Robinson; Cherished grandmother of Christine Jarzenbeck, Donald (Catherine) Jarzenbeck, Carrie (Jacob) Noel, Michael (Jennifer) Szydlowski, Laurie (Jon) Davis and Gregory Szydlowski; great-grandmother of Brandon, Caitlyn, Charlotte, Abigail, Amanda and Alexis. Rose was preceded in death by brothers and sisters Earl, June, Shirley, Lucille, Edward and Donald.
Rose was born in St. Louis on May 29, 1919, a daughter of Edward and Mabel Kestler, nee Whitney. Rose and husband Ray raised their family in Oakville, where they lived on Pottle Ave. for 50 years. They enjoyed dancing every Saturday night and frequent fishing trips with the family. Active to the end of her life Rose enjoyed playing cards and spending time with her family. She was always ready if they called asking if she’d like to go out to eat.
A funeral service will be held at 9:45 am on Tuesday, January 24, at Hoffmeister South County Chapel, 1515 Lemay Ferry Road, St. Louis, Mo. 63125. Interment will follow at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 4-8 pm, Monday, January 23.
