David B. Sigler departed this earthly plane in V.A.-covered nursing home/hospice care in Ocala, Florida on December 13, 2019 after a protracted illness. Born to Daniel Sigler and Verna (Merl) Breese Sigler on October 12, 1940, he was raised in Elwood, Indiana and attended Wendell Willkie High School. He was a career United States Air Force veteran, having served multiple tours as a flight crew chief in Vietnam and other locales in southeast Asia during the 1960s-70s. He retired from the Air Force in 1981. He was an avid student of world religions and cultures and lived in Vietnam, Thailand, the Philippines, Costa Rica, and Panama before settling permanently in Leesburg, Florida for the last decades of his life. He completed vocational training in electronics and gemology and at one point owned his own jewelry store in Orlando, Florida. His only child, a daughter (Tisa Merbon Sigler) died shortly after birth, and his only sibling (Nancy Sue Sigler Kiphart Carter) predeceased him in 2017. He is survived by two nieces (Christine Kiphart Fisher of Orlando, FL, and Cynthia Kiphart Hashemi in Virginia Beach, VA), a great-niece (Miranda Hashemi in Virginia Beach, VA), a cousin (Catherine Breese Gay in Borrego Springs, CA), and a brother-in-law (James O. Kiphart of Virginia Beach, VA). David has always been a seeker of higher truths, and his family is comforted by knowing that he is released from his earthly struggles, and his soul is now free to soar on to new adventures. There will be no public memorial service, and per his express wishes, his ashes will be scattered into the warmth of the Florida ocean.
