Andrew Budy

8 December, 193920 April, 2021

It is with sadness that we announce that Andy passed away peacefully at Peace Arch Hospital on April 20, 2021. He will be greatly missed by his wife, Barb; his daughters, Tania (Gord) & Sandy (Tom); his son, Mark (Angela); and his 6 grandchildren, Alyssa, Michael, Nicholas, Zachary, Noah & Daniel.

Born in Bellis, Alberta, on December 8, 1939 to William and Anna. Andy grew up on the family farm with his 6 brothers (Nick, John, Nestor, Mike, Paul, Peter) and 5 sisters (Emily, Mary, Patsy, Jennett & Dianne). When he was 18 years old, he left for Edmonton to take a meteorological course. He worked with the Government of Canada, initially at the weather office for several years, before moving into the water survey department for a total of 39 years.

He was always a strong family man, a good provider. He loved to spend time outdoors, hiking, camping, golfing with Mark (even got a hole in one!), gardening and of course taking photographs of everything! Sometimes too many, but we will enjoy looking at those old photos now, as we remember the good times.

After retiring, he took up driving a school bus and working as a golf marshal, which allowed him ample opportunity to play golf for free and find lost golf balls! He and Barb moved to the White Rock area in 2007 to be near Tania and Mark and their families, leaving the cold Alberta winters behind.

He enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports, playing pickleball and riding his bike around town with his beloved Rufus in the basket.

We take comfort in knowing that he is with his predeceased parents and siblings, Patsy, Mike, Mary and Dianne and he can rest easy.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Westminster House, who were so kind and caring to him over the past year.

May God rest his soul.

Eternal memories.

I met the Budy family a few years ago and we've been close ever since. I'm very thankful to have known Andy as we spoke on a regular basis for the past few years. We would talk shop, life, and more, and he never ceased to have an opinion that I could learn from. He cared about others, especially his family, and that is a quality that speaks louder than words.

A Father, Father-in-law and Grandfather to our family.......
He touched our hearts with one of the greatest gifts he truly possessed, giving all of us the gift of HIS time. Family time was the most important thing to him.
This gift will be forever remembered and carried forward within our family.
As his son, he introduced me to some of my most loved activities. These include golf, camping, hockey and hiking.
Our endless summers at the Shuswap as a child made me fall in love with British Columbia, the place we call home.
We will miss you, remember you and love you forever.
