Roger Drohan

He was born January 16, 1928 in Jacksonville, Florida and was retired from the Brevard County Property Appraiser’s Office as Supervisor of Commercial Properties. Roger graduated from Robert E. Lee High School where he lettered in track and baseball. Roger was on the Lee baseball team that won the state baseball championship in 1946. After high school he joined the U.S. Army where he served in Japan during the Occupation. When he returned home, he enrolled at Florida State University where he enjoyed being part of the dance club and the FSU baseball team. Unfortunately, a knee injury ended his FSU baseball career earlier than he would have liked. In May of 2017, he was honored to be able to throw out the first pitch of the game at Dick Howser Stadium for an FSU v. Wake Forest game. That brought much delight to him, his family and many friends at the ripe old age of 89!

Roger and his wife, Kathryn, were members of Indian River City United Methodist Church for 54 years before moving to Tallahassee in 2016. Over the years Roger served as church Treasurer, youth counselor and was a member of the Kitchen Ministry. He also helped to establish an activities program for senior citizens to keep them active.

Roger loved participating in sports, watching sports, talking sports and was a coach from T-shirt League to Senior League for many years with the IRC Little League in Titusville. His hobbies included woodworking, golf, fishing and since moving to Tallahassee playing pool at Allegro with his pool buddy, Blair.

Roger was predeceased by his father, Francis Pierce Drohan, Sr.; his mother, Helene Cook Drohan; his brother, Dr. Francis Pierce Drohan, Jr.; and a sister, Delores Drohan.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Kathryn Oswald Drohan; two children, Vicki Drohan Brokaw (Pete), Roger C. Drohan, Jr. “Rocky” (Kelly); five grandchildren, Matthew Drohan, Lacey Beth Thompson (Matthew), Morgan Drohan (Jon), Chasen Brokaw (Katie), Katelyn Brokaw, Ethan Fulton; one great grandchild, Elois Thompson; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held Sunday, March 29 at 12 pm at MeadowWood Memorial Park, Timberlane Road, Tallahassee, FL. Due to COVID-19, the number of people allowed at the graveside is limited. We will be showing it through livestream on our Culley’s MeadowWood Funeral Home Timberlane Road Facebook page beginning at 12 pm.
