
Loving husband, father, grandfather and friend William “Bill” Vandenberg, 82, passed away on April 24, 2017. Born in Bowling Green, Kentucky on May 1, 1934, Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Cornelius and Helena Vandenberg, his three brothers Casey, Charlie, and Fred, as well as his sister Helen. Bill served four years in the United States Navy before attending Penn State University and earning a degree in Business Management. Bill was an industrial accountant for Armstrong Manufacturing Company and Sewell Plastics, before becoming an ISO 9001 auditor for Whitaker Oil. Bill is survived by his wife, Darlene Vandenberg. They met and wed while Bill was stationed in Hawaii during his Navy service and were celebrating 60 years of marriage this year. Bill is also survived by his two children, their spouses, and his four grandchildren: Scott (Jennifer) Vandenberg, Sherri (Jeff) Franklin, Melanie Franklin, Katie Franklin, Maggie Vandenberg, and Spencer Vandenberg. Bill is also survived by one sister, Gertrude Edberg. A good and kind man, Bill was a loving husband, patient father, doting Grandpa, and a true friend. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed bowling and loved to travel, especially cruising with Darlene. He was a gentleman in the truest sense of the word.
