Shirley Simon, beloved wife,mother, grandmother, and great grandmother passed away peacefully in her home on May 1, 2022. She was born on June 21, 1936, in Denver, Colorado. She grew up in Denver and graduated from Manuel High School in 1951. When Shirley graduated she was proficient in all manner of office procedures and was very good at the lost-lost art of shorthand.
Shirley was the wife of Slater and the mother of Mark and Julie, grandmother to Joshua, and great grandmother to Finley and Memphis.
Shirley enjoyed driving in the mountains and visiting all of the small towns in Colorado. She especially enjoyed listening to the sounds of a river of babbling brook. Shirley was a self-taught avid landscape painter. Our house is decorated with many paintings of her incredible talent. Shirley enjoyed spending family time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Shirley also spending time with a host of nephews, nieces and cousins. She was an exceptional cook and enjoyed cooking various meals from scratch. Shirley worked many years as a salesperson of fine jewelry at JC Penney and Fashion Bar. She won many prestigious awards for being the top salesperson in the mountain region. Shirley loved flowers and loved working to plant them every spring. She could always make you laugh with her quick wit at times and loving smile when you needed someone to talk with. She will be missed simply just for being the beautiful woman that she was who could lift your spirits and the compassionate way she dealt with everyday life.
A memorial mass for Shirley will be held Wednesday, May 11, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church, 900 W. Midway Blvd., Northglenn, CO 80229.
