Daniel prosecuted the male drink driver that killed my friend back in the late 90's.

I will always fondly remember Daniel for his attention to detail, his grace, his charm and his love of shoes.

Daniel was incredibly kind to my brothers and I. He would always have a friendly smile and positive things to say whenever I visited my dad's office. For years, he and his partner Kyle would give us movie tickets on Christmas - something that was extremely generous and above and beyond on their part. I was shocked and saddened to learn that he became ill and passed so suddenly. It is, however, not surprising to hear that he was his kind and supportive self to the end. Condolences go out to all who were touched by this great man.

I picked up the Toronto Star a few weeks ago to read Kyle's words about Daniel's passing and the celebration of his life that followed.  I was stunned to learn that he had died. Fifteen years ago, I moved temporarily to Toronto to work for the Ministry of the Solicitor-General.  I was a social worker from Ottawa, never having worked for Government before.  Within weeks, I met Daniel in his work with the Domestic Violence Work Team.  He was so welcoming and generous with his time and ideas - a theme I see repeated in others' remembrances.  I remember traveling throughout Ontario with him as our team spread the word about the Domestic Violence Court. When I returned to Ottawa, we connected intermittently.  Franca and I hosted him for dinner one night when he was here on business.  Knowing I like to try different beers, he appeared with several bottles of hard to find beer.  One day, I came home and Purolator said I had a package waiting.  It was a signed copy of the River Cafe cookbook.  Daniel had sent it to me,just like that. I think the last time I saw Daniel was at Crown School in London.  I'll remember him as a thoughtful, vivacious, curious, passionate and  caring man.  I'm so grateful I met him.  My thoughts and prayers to Kyle and his family.

Although I never worked at Dragon Bridge, I recall meeting him there often so we could study together. He was always very warm, generous, and extremely smart with a great sense of humour. I was so sad that I was not in town to attend Daniel's funeral. Daniel was an exemplary human being. He was a mentor to me when I started out as a young Crown. I just learned of Daniel's passing today.  I am shocked and dismayed at the news.  I met Daniel a decade ago when I started working at the OPS.  Though I did not work with him directly or in the same office for a long time, Daniel never forgot who I was and showed great interest whenever we would happen to meet.  He was truly a gracious, gentle man and the world is smaller for his loss.  My condolences to all of his family, I cannot imagine how difficult this is for all of you.

Although we didn't work together extensively, I was struck by his intelligence, professionalism, integrity and kindness. I was deeply saddened to hear of his passing. I think we are all a little more for having known him, and a great deal less with his passing.

Like many others, my first job was waitressing at the Dragon Bridge.  The Mark family were always kind and generous.  Danny demonstrated professionalism, a drive for success and respect for all.  I realize now, with teenagers of my own, how remarkable he was at such a young age.  It never surprised me to learn of the success he experienced as an adult. I was saddened to hear about the passing of Danny. What a shocking and heart breaking loss. I had the extraordinary luck of being befriended by Danny (as we knew him then) when I was the new kid in Grade 10 at PHHS.  Like so many of us he got me my first real job, at 14, waitressing at Ying's and Dragon Bridge, a job I kept throughout high school.  But we would also talk for endless hours on the phone throughout those years; his warmth, humour and incredible generosity of spirit kept me sane through the many trials and tribulations of high school.  To Kyle and the entire Mark family I send my heartfelt condolences for this great loss.  Do know though that he leaves behind a great swath of those like me whose lives were so greatly enriched by his friendship.

I was very shocked and saddened to that Daniel had passed away. I met Daniel in 2003 when I went to Toronto for work, and later again in london when he came to England for the same. We spent many happy days in each other's company, as he stayed at my house, and I have always thought of him with great affection and respect, both personally and professionally. I knew Daniel for only 10 years and when the anniversary of our first introduction passed us on 1 May I thought back to how my life has been enriched for having gained such a special friend during this time. I was shocked and saddened to hear of Daniel's passing. Daniel was so cheerily approachable and helpful when I consulted him on Criminal Law policy issues. But it was his quick intuition that really helped me since he spurred me on to buy my first condo and I'm so grateful to him for that. Daniel Marks was a great and loyal friend of the Barbra Schlifer Clinic, a free legal, language interpretation and counselling clinic for women experiencing violence in Toronto. Daniel and Kyle were stalwart attendees at our annual Tribute fundraiser, and the Crown and MAG staff were never safe from having to buy tickets to support us, thanks to Daniel and Kyle. He was a good man and will be missed by us all.His contributions to helping women live lives free from violence will go on giving long after this terrible loss.

I will miss getting thoroughly cross-examined by Daniel, to have him make me say something that I knew would land me in trouble the moment it came out of my mouth, and to be unable to fool him into the same only to watch him leave me withering in a middle of debate which I never meant to have so he could go and say something charming to someone else and be so debonair and dashing all the while. Your grace, great taste and wit will always be missed. My deepest sympathy to Kyle.

So sad......Daniel was the most greatest and kindest person I have ever met. He touched my family in so many ways. I worked with him for years.  We are all so much better for having him in our lives. My thoughts are with his family and friends. We will all miss him!

My deepest condolences to Danny's family and friends. I met him after I married my late husband, Bill Wyatt, as he was the Marks' accountant for many years. I remember a career day when Danny was in high school and he told me that he was going to be a lawyer.  I remember taking him out for lunch the summer before he started at Queen's, to give him "advice" (not that he needed any!).  I had not seen him for many years but will never forget him.

Remember Danny doing his homework in the back booth at the restaurant on Walton Street.  He was a great kid and a wonderful man.  Last time I saw him was a few years ago.  My wife and I were on a cruise and Danny was there with Julia.  Will miss him.  Condolences to all the family.
