Amalia attended Isabela Catolica (Grammar School) Marianitas de Jesus (Junior High School) and went onto Manuelita Saenz (High School). In 1983 Amalia graduated from the Red Cross Training Program in Quito, as an Infirmary Auxiliary Technician. She later worked as a public employee for the Civil Registry of Quito, Ecuador. In 1987 Amalia immigrated with her two children, Rocío and Ramiro to the United States of America. While in the U.S., Amalia worked for Grassman-Blake, Inc. of Millburn, New Jersey, as a Machine Technician, for sixteen years.
In 1988 while attending St Leo’s Church she would meet her future husband, Marcelo. The two love birds later married in 1988 and would go on to have a daughter, Kathy. They would then live together in Irvington, New Jersey for seventeen years and upon retirement, moved back home to Ecuador. Amalia and Marcelo frequently traveled back and forth to the States to visit with their children and family. Amalia always wanted and kept her family united. She was very proud of her family and leaves behind nothing but beautiful memories for all to share.
She touched the lives of so many people with her genuine kindness and warmth including her special bonus daughter, Sandra Rodríguez. Amalia continued with this trait as she encountered her extended family and friends throughout her wonderful years living her beautiful life. As her health declined, Amalia wrote “when I die, I would like to be remembered as a good hearted and generous person”. Amalia was definitely this, a beautiful rarity, a beloved gem.
Amalia is survived by her husband, Marcelo J.Rosas, both of her parents and her three dear to her heart children, Rocío Rodríguez -Montero, Ramiro N. Rodríguez and Kathy Rosas-Cordero. She is also survived by her seven grandchildren, daughter in law, two son in laws, loving step-children and her treasured siblings, along with a host of loving family and adoring friends. Amalia was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, mother in-law, daughter, sister, aunt and friend whom will truly be missed and will always be cherished. God accompanied Amalia as she became one of his special angels and she is now watching over and taking care of us.
