It is with heavy hearts that we share the news that Kiki left us on April 18th quite suddenly with family by her side. She is deeply missed by her beloved nieces and nephews Costa (Angela), Mark (Peta), Dori-Ann Stubos (George), Denise McGahey (Kent) & Diane Roeder (Rich). She is predeceased by her nephew Evan. Also missing her are her great nieces and nephews Dustin & Shaun, Jake & Ty, Cole & Luke and Josie as well as other cousins, relatives and friends.
Kiki was born in Vancouver to Gus and Martha Thodos. She had 2 siblings, Tom (Dora) and Tena (George) who both predeceased her. This left Kiki with a heavy heart as the 3 siblings were particularly close. They formed an inseparable bond when they went with their mother for Greece for vacation and got stuck there for the duration of World War 2. Upon returning, Kiki was employed by The Hudson’s Bay Company where she worked until retirement. She loved to cook and garden and she was an amazing knitter and crocheter. Until her death, Kiki would knit baby hats to be given to the newborns at Children’s Hospital. She could always be counted on as a supreme babysitter not only to her nieces and nephews but then to their children as well. In fact, she became like a 3rd Yiayia to them. We will miss you dearly Thea Kiki. xo
The family would like to thank her loving caregiver Toshi who was also by her side when she passed. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a charity of your choice.
Funeral service will be held on Friday, May 3, 2019 at 11:00 am at St. George’s Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 4500 Arbutus St., Vancouver. Father Constantinos Economos officiating. Interment will follow at 12:30pm at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Burnaby, BC.
