Carolyn Fair Holroyd

27 January, 193617 July, 2021

It is with great sadness, we say goodbye to our mother, Carolyn (Fair) Holroyd who passed away peacefully on July 17, 2021. She brought a bit of sunshine to so many.

Mom was predeceased by her loving husband Harold Holroyd (April 2011). She leaves behind to mourn her loss her children: Marie (Torrie), Scott (Liz), Lori (Vince); her beloved grandchildren: Ryan (Lori), Jordan (Brittney), Carlyn, Lee (Diana), Curtis (Laurel), her dearest Riley, Max, Brad, Devon, Clay (Krystal) and Jeff, her most very precious 10 great grandchildren, her brother-in-law Ian (Carol) Holroyd and their families as well as numerous friends and relatives across the globe.

Mom lived her full 85 years in Victoria, growing up in the Mt. Tolmie area, and would often fondly look back on the time she spent there. She enjoyed a lifetime of teaching in many roles, specifically Cloverdale, Gorge Jay and Vic West elementary. Mom played golf with many great lady friends and so much laughter could be heard across the courses they attended. Everywhere she went she left a memory. She was bright, funny, and kind. Always enjoyed a good conversation with so many.

Mom loved to travel and enjoyed several trips to Scotland and the Isle of Man, to the USA, Australia and Mexico. She also travelled across the Prairies numerous times (sometimes with turtles).

Mom was a big supporter of sport and attended all her grandchildren's, games and activities over the years.

She lived at the Cridge Centre for Seniors over the last several years and made many great friends there. We would like to thank all the staff there for their care and kindness.

A great big thank you to the nurses at the Royal Jubilee Hospital and the Victoria Hospice.

Please eat a jellybean today in her honour.

Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at for the Holroyd family.

I was saddened to hear of your loss, my sincere condolences to the family.

I knew Carolyn from our working days at Vic West Elementary School.
Carolyn spent an entire school year in my classroom caring and educating a very nice, but challenged young boy. He was a very lucky student to have such a wonderful person in his life.

Carolyn was always "bubbly", friendly and outgoing! The students in my class, as well as the entire school, loved her.
She and I had many good conversations on every type of sports entertainment!

Carolyn always did much more than was required of her thereby making my job much easier!

I have a number of good memories of Carolyn and I know all of you do as well. Treasure those memories.

We were lifelong friends with Carolyn and Harold. George went to Victoria West school with Harold and Betty went to Oak Bay High with Carolyn. We would tease each other about how the heck two Vic West boys would end up marrying two chicks from Oak Bay. We enjoyed each others company with lots of laughs and great memories. We were somewhat shocked about the passing of Carolyn as we had talked to her on the phone not long ago. She will be missed by us all, especially her family whom she so loved. Rest in peace dear Carol.

I am so sorry to hear of your Mum’s passing. What an incredible woman!
I have wonderful memories of Carol from all the years she worked at George Jay. She was a powerhouse… and so funny too.
She and your dad went with my class to Camp Columbia one year and your Dad helped out on the waterfront… “No bad for a non-swimmer” said your Mum.
Remember all the wonderful Snoopy clothing she wore!
