Born in Chisholm, Minnesota and raised in Valleyfield, Quebec he was the son of Emile and Myrtle and brother of Allen. It was in Valleyfield as a young boy that Gerald met his future wife Gladys Cooper.
In 1939, at the age of 19, Gerald enlisted in the Black Watch (Royal Highland Regiment) in Montreal and served in WWII for six years in England, France, and the Netherlands. When he returned home from the war he and Gladys married. After the war they moved to Toronto where they raised their three children, Dianne, Murray (deceased) and Glen. Gerry worked a few years on the railway and then 30 years at Canadian Kodak Company in Weston, Ontario.
When Gerry was in his fifties, Gerry, Gladys and all three children came to know Jesus as Lord and Saviour, and Gerry loved to tell of their life changing experiences.
At the age of 60 Gerry retired and he and Gladys moved to Victoria BC where they made their home in Cordova Bay. They loved the ocean and beaches, and spent many years travelling in their RV. His children and grandchildren often came to visit. Gladys died in 1989 and Gerry continued to live in Cordova Bay until he was unable to live on his own at the age of 95.
Gerry and Gladys were faithful members of St. Saviour’s Anglican Church, after her passing Gerry attended First Nazarene Church in Victoria.
