John Charles Hopkins, of Portsmouth, Virginia and formerly of Florida, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 19, 2013. Born in Brooklyn, New York November 14, 1922, the son of the late Charles and Margaret Hopkins. Mr. Hopkins was predeceased by his wife, Anna D. Hopkins.
He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Mr. Hopkins and his wife owned and operated Hoppy Deli for 16 years
Mr. Hopkins is survived by his daughter, Ellen Packer and her husband, Kenneth, of Portsmouth and son John and wife Cathy and daughter Terri. He has five grandchildren and three great grandchildren He also loved bowling, as well as spending time exercising and being with his friends at the YMCA.
Mr. Hopkins will be laid to rest with his wife in Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at 12:00 noon. Navy honors will be accorded at the grave.
