DAWES, Harold
Born to Eliza and Alfred Henry Dawes on July
22nd, 1929 in Salford, England; Harold passed
away on July 18th, 2018 at age 88 in West
Vancouver, B.C., Canada.
Harold grew up in Manchester, England and was
conscripted into the RAF in 1948. He married
Joyce Clarke in 1953 and they spent many happy
times cycling extensively through England before
packing up their belongings and young son and
emigrating to Canada in 1957.
Harold and Joyce settled in West Vancouver
where they built their home and raised their family.
Harold worked as an electrician first for BC Hydro,
then for the North Vancouver School Board and
later started his own electrical contracting company.
Harold is survived by his children; Andrew, Janet
(Don) and Susan (Graham), grandchildren; Ross,
Scott, Glenn and Brett as well as nieces and
nephews in the U.K. and U.S. He is predeceased
by his wife of 62 years, Joyce; his parents Eliza and
Alfred Henry Dawes, siblings Ena, Harry and Arthur.
Harold was a man of character and integrity and
was a friend to all.
Special thanks to our extended family at Inglewood
Care Centre who cared for both parents in their
final years.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, August 2nd,
2018 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Martin’s Anglican Church, 195
Windsor Road East, North Vancouver, B.C.
