

Giuseppe Destefani, 69, of Hartford, beloved husband of Maria (Conaci) Destefani, passed away Tuesday (July 13, 2010) with his family by his side. He was born on November 14, 1940 in Girifalco, province of Catanzaro, Calabria, Italy, son of the late Rocco and Barbara (Campese) Destefani, and came to the United States in 1971. Giuseppe worked at Colt's Firearms and Colt's Manufacturing Company many years before retiring in 2010. Besides his wife, he is survived by his children: Barbara and Brian Keaveny of South Windsor, Rocco and Jennifer Destefani of Wethersfield, Maria Destefani of Colchester, and Enza Destefani of South Windsor; and his six grandchildren, whom he adored: Matthew, David and Kayla Keaveny of South Windsor and Olivia, Mia and Isabella Destefani of Wethersfield. He is also survived by his sisters and their husbands: Rosaria and Michele Pugliese and Barbara and Tito Leone; his brother and his wife, Antonio and Vittora Destefani; his brothers-in-law and wives: Antonio Conaci, Rocco and Paola Conaci, Domenico and Rosa Conaci, and Salvatore Conaci; his sisters-in-law and husbands: Barbara Quaresima, Angela Conaci, Caterina and Domenico Giampa, Illuminata Zaimieri, and Barbara Destefani; and many nieces, nephews and close cousins, Gregorio and Marisa Campese of Medfield, MA. Giuseppe was predeceased by his brothers Michele, Luigi and Vincenzo; his sisters-in-law Angela and Alyce Conaci; and his brothers-in-law Francesco Conaci and Giuseppe Quaresima. Funeral services will leave Friday at 9:15 a.m. from the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at the Church of the Incarnation 544 Prospect Street, Wethersfield. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill. Calling hours are TODAY from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral chapel. The family would like to thank the nurses and doctors of the Palliative Care Unit, Bliss 5 at Hartford Hospital, Masonicare Hospice, Patient's Choice, Companions and Homemakers, and all of his doctors who cared for him through his illness.
