Renè was born on September 24, 1936 in Fomento, Cuba. He was the youngest of 3 boys. He left Cuba when he was 17 years old and was sponsored by family friends to live in Jamaica for 1 year. When he was 18 years old, he was allowed to leave Jamaica and moved to Los Angeles, CA. where he received permanent residence to live in the USA. He then moved to Kentucky where he attended Kentucky Wesleyan College.
In 1958, he joined the Air Force and was stationed at Reese AFB in Lubbock, Texas. He soon met his beautiful love, Paula, and made her his wife on July 15, 1961. He adopted her wonderful son (3 yrs.old), Rene' ( yes - Paula had named her son, Rene') and he gave him his middle and last name, as well, as making him a Jr. They soon had a daughter, Evita, in February 1962.
As in the military, transfers come quickly and they soon found themselves transferred to Bermuda. After 4 years, they were then transferred to Colorado and stationed at Lowry AFB. He was honorably discharged and went into Civil Service, as a computer programmer at Lowry AFB, until his retirement in 1992.
In 1984, his son, Rene', blessed him with a handsome grandson, Daniel, born in Texas. He was so excited to have him in his life and was able to spend time with him as a baby. Rene' and his lovely wife, Dani, then gave him a precious granddaughter, Kathryn in 2005.
In 1994, he was blessed with a wonderful son-in-law, JD, who adored his daughter and together they gave him and his wife a beautiful granddaughter, Taylor, in 1995. In 2004, he was given a sweet grandson, Jacob and the family was complete.
In 1999, a very special person reached out to him, stating that she was his sister. She had already communicated to his father, Menelio and his Father confirmed that he, indeed, fathered this gracious woman. She looked exactly like Menelio and was as kind as he was. Her name is Saihlys and she cared for Menelio the last months of his life until his passing in the same year.
In 2007, his beautiful bride suffered a stroke which left her paralyzed and unable to remain in their home. He visited her, almost, everyday until her passing in 2010. He always said that she was his "little cotton picker" - his wife's family had a farm and they worked many fields, one being of cotton! The last years of his life were spent missing her but still enjoying his family, reading his bible and loving God. Rene' was always generous and helped his family, and others, anytime they needed him- he will be very missed.
He is survived by his daughter, Evita (JD), granddaughter, Taylor, grandson, Jacob all in Thornton, CO. Also survived by his son, Rene' Jr. (Dani), grandson, Daniel, granddaughter, Kathryn all of Dallas, TX. His sister, Saihlys Espinosa (Mario) of Miami FL.
Memorial Services will be held Saturday, June 22, 2019 (10:00AM) at Olinger Crown Hill Mortuary; 7777 W. 29th Ave., Wheat Ridge, CO. 80033 in the Chapel of Peace.
