Beloved wife of the late Steve. Loving mother of Mark (Ruth TenBroek) Atma and Sharon (John Guenther) Atma. Treasured grandmother of Jenna Atma, Peter Atma, Luke Atma, Catrina Guenther and Alexis Guenther. Sister of Walter Giza. She is preceded in death by her siblings, Irene, Stanley, Edward and Richard Giza.
Mrs. Atma was a world traveler and loved animals. In her younger years she was a pilot and a newspaper reporter who had the honor of being introduced to many famous people. She used to play tennis and enjoyed watching tennis on her television. She had a kind-hearted nature, empathy, love for all animals, and her absolute devotion to her kids and grandkids. She has inspired all of us who knew her to emulate her example of what it is to be a loving human being, happy in life as it presents itself. She will be dearly missed by all. Mrs. Atma was surrounded in her last days by her loving dogs Brietta, Ginger, Jellybean and Oreo.
Memorial contributions suggested to the Silver Muzzle Cottage senior dog rescue in Northern Michigan. Mrs. Atma was devoted to animals and had great empathy for them — especially senior, unwanted pets. This organization aptly reflects her passion for animals in need. https://silvermuzzlecottage.com.
The other is the American Bird Conservancy. She has loved watching native birds out her window for the half year she has lived at her daughter's (and long before). This would honor her love of birds and their conservation. https://abcbirds.org/donate.com.
Per her wishes, cremation has taken place and a private memorial service will be held at a later date.
