

Charles Jefferson Rogers III, 78, of Wilmington, died Saturday, January 10, 2015, at Huntington Health Care in Burgaw. He was born February 12, 1936, in Durham, NC to the late Charles J. Rogers, Jr. and Juanita Adams Rogers. Charles was a veteran and was honorably discharged from the US Marine Corps. He earned his Bachelor's degree from UNC Chapel Hill and was employed by Alpha Portland Cement Co. Following his retirement, he moved to Wilmington, NC in July 1999 and became a member of Grace Baptist Church. He was a member of Holly Racquet Club where he was an avid Tennis player. Charles enjoyed traveling to visit family and friends and had many trips to the North Carolina Mountains. Survivors include his wife, Barbara Rogers; sons, Jeff Rogers and wife Margaret of San Antonio, TX and Chuck Rogers and wife Kara of Olney, MD; grandson, Charlie Rogers; granddaughter, Devin Rogers; sisters-in-law, Marilyn Booth of Danville, VA and Pris Baker and husband Rick of Charlotte, NC; nephew, Gary Booth and wife Pam of Danville, VA; great-nephew, Eddie Booth and great-niece, Elena Booth. A memorial service will be held at 1pm, Saturday, January 17, 2015, at Grace Baptist Church 1401 North College Rd., Wilmington, NC 28405. The family will receive visitors at the church, prior to the service, beginning at 11:30 am until the service time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Grace Baptist Church Building Fund. Charlie's favorite Life Verses were Proverbs 3: 5-6 "Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths."
