November 11, 2020, with his loving wife Ada by his side.
Luigi was born in Villalago, Aquila, Italy on July 30, 1950. From an early age, he worked on his parent's land and contributed selflessly to their livelihood. This hard work translated into his way of life that was dedicated to his family, friends, and career. Luigi was the true definition of a family man.
Luigi immigrated to Winnipeg in 1969 and dedicated 46 years as a machinist at Canadian Tool and Die. In 1971, he met the love of his life Ada who he later married on June 30, 1973. Over their 47 years of marriage, they built a beautiful life and had three children, Giovanna (Karl), Antonio (Natasha), and Daniele (Francesca). He cherished his grandchildren, Matteo, Juliana, and future grandson, Nico. He will be fondly remembered by his sister Maria, his extended family, and many friends.
Luigi was a man with a big heart and warm smile, who always made you feel welcome and one you can reliably call on for help. He enjoyed the simple pleasures in life like watching early morning soccer games,
gardening, being everyone's handyman, and making homemade wine. The company of his family and friends was his greatest joy.
We are grateful for the outpouring of
sympathy and kind remembrances from our extended family and friends during this
difficult time, as it reaffirms the legacy that Luigi leaves behind. We also want to extend thanks to the staff in the CCU and 5A West Cardiology Unit at St. Boniface Hospital for the care they provided him.
Due to current COVID-19 restrictions, a private service will take place on Tuesday, November 17 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. The service can be viewed on YouTube. Luigi will then be laid to rest at Holy Angel Mausoleum (Green Acres
Funeral Home).
