The funeral mass will be celebrated in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary R.C. Church, Glenavon, SK., on Friday, October 12, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. by Rev. Gerald Joy Montiague. Internment in the parish cemetery.
Predeceased by her parents Nick and Anne (Maystrowich) Smuk; brothers Joseph (Mary) Smuk and Sam (Gertie) Smuk; sisters Mildred (Isadore) Florek, Marjorie (Alex) Skochylas and her loving husband of 59 years, Joe Mish.
Lilian is survived by her sister Geraldine (Gilbert) Rathgaber, Melville; two sons Larry (Luisa) Mish, Grenfell and Jeffrey (Janette) Mish, Glenavon; two daughters Janet Mish, Regina and Sharon Mish, Glenavon; six grandchildren: Christopher (Leah), Brittany, Courtney, Melissa, Jordan and Victoria Mish and one great granddaughter Emsley Mish. Lilian is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Lilian loved the farm life and cooking awesome meals for Joe and family. Her favourite hobbies were preserving relishes, pickles and fruit. She always welcomed people for delicious home-cooked meals. Grandchildren often got gifts of homemade potato soup. She was an avid gardener and won prizes for the best yard, both on the farm and in town. She volunteered with the Glenavon Horticulture Society, Glenavon Curling Club and the Roman Catholic Church. She spent many relaxing days at the cottage in Kenosee Lake. She enjoyed travelling, visiting relatives and friends, and checking the crops. She was also a great supporter of all her grandchildren, and loved to watch them play basketball, volleyball and hockey. She was thrilled to see Victoria learning to walk and to meet her new great granddaughter Emsley. She was a very caring, giving, loving person.
Thank you to all our relatives and friends for their kind support and thoughtfulness.
If friends so desire, contributions can be made to Our Lady of the Holy Rosary R.C. Church, Box 51, Glenavon, SK., SOG 1YO.
