On the morning of Sunday, September 1st 2019, Rafaela "Ruby" Gutierrez, née Lucero, peacefully entered the Lord's presence. Ruby was born to Jose Lucero and Julia Gonzalez on September 11th, 1943 in Phoenix, Arizona. At the age of 16, she was married and raised 7 children.
She accepted the Lord in 1976 and later remarried Pastor, Alex D Gutierrez in 1986. As a result, she was blessed with 3 additional children. She served in ministry for 40 years and was ordained in 1994. Under her Pastorialship, she ministered, sheltered, fed, and inspired the community. Ruby also enjoyed singing, dancing, cooking, and spending time with her family.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Julia Gonzalez, her father, Jose Lucero, and her siblings, Joe Torres, Juanita Del Campo, Sonny Boy Torres, and Sammy Gonzalez.
She is survived by her husband, Pastor Alex D Gutierrez and her children, Tommy Garcia, Sonny Garcia, Donny Garcia, Connie Chavez, Vonnie Garcia, Ronny Garcia, Angel Garcia, Theresa Picone, Isabel Gutierrez, and Alex Jr Gutierrez. Ruby also leaves behind 31 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.
The Visitation Service will be held at Resthaven/Carr-Tenney Mortuary, 4310 E. Southern Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85042, on Friday, September 6th, 2019 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
The Funeral and Committal service will be held at the same location on Saturday, September 7th, 2019 at 10:00 am. Immediately following her burial, a potluck dinner will be held at Dobson Ranch Convention Center on 1644 S Dobson Rd, Mesa, AZ 85202.
