I never had the privilege of meeting Laurnell but I'll always be thankful for the kindness she had shown in her letters many years ago.  Looking at her picture makes me smile, she looks like she's easy to love.   A Mrs. Santa Claus kind of way.  
Grief is a final act of love to give a loved one, and we grieve as hard as we love.  My prayers go out to the Ward family as they put their dear matriarch to rest.

Mrs Ward was such a kind, sweet woman. She was like a Mom to all of us in Belvidere. I will surely miss her kindness and patience. 

I remember as a kid Being at her house with my mom and dad. We would play in the back yard or park with my sisters and chase firefly's. I also remember her getting a little submarine out of some  cereal and playing with it in the sink with me.

Aunt Laurnell  was like my mother.  We could talk for hours.  I loved her so much and I will miss her very much.  She was so nervous on my wedding day that she buttoned my dress wrong and had to start over.  We really laughed who was more nervous.   We always had a bed there when we traveled.  Miss you Aunt Laurnell.
