My name is Allan Shulstad.

I chanced to look up Dick's name on the 'net.  

I worked with him at Pedro Mfg.  In the late '70s and early 80s.



Dick was a highly intelligent man. I loved talking to him and getting his perspective on multiple topics. He was a great communicator. I always felt highly respected by him and that he also valued my thoughts. 
I miss our Sunday noon Vikings games at the VFW/Legion. It was so great getting together with the Aunts  and Uncles to watch the game. 
Dick is missed. He was, and still is, a good human being. 

I will always remember how kind Granpda Dick was.  He always had such nice things to say and had a way of making you feel so very special when talking with him.  I was very blessed to have him as a grandpa.  He will be dearly missed.

Evelyn and Richard. Towards the end of his life I started addressing my Dad by full name. No disrespect intended, but when my Aunt Evelyn spoke his name she did it with such eloquence!  Mother Ottilia's  genes were strong as these two are half brother and sister.

Richard enlisted in the Air Force toward the end of World War II.  He  trained as an Instrument Landing Equipment Mechanic, and later became a Control Tower Operator.

This is the Curtis - Wright  negotiating committee signing a labor contract. Richard was one of the negotiators on behalf of the union.  He was very proud of this picture and it hung in his office for many years.

Oh my, been a long time.  This obituary brought sadness to me. I worked with Dick at Rosemount back in the 70's. But I met Dick at a local restaurant maybe 5 or so years ago . . . he was still the lively, talkative gentleman I remembered … in his 80's at the time. Back in the day I remember Dick and wife took several of us Rosemount folks on a boat ride on Lake Minnetonka . . . great fun and a memory to this day. May God be with you old friend.
