Paul Morse

was born on September 6, 1943 in Lubbock, TX to James “Jake” Morse and O’Fay Hart. He grew up in

Levelland, TX and graduated from Levelland High School in 1962. He continued his education at Texas

Tech University, earning his degree in Accounting. Paul was passionate about his career at The United

States Postal Service for 37 years before retiring in 2002. He married Delilah Hill in Hereford, TX on

October 1, 1963 and they were fortunate to share 56 loving years together.

He is survived by his wife, Delilah; his daughters and their spouses, Denice and Deen Dickson, Tammy

and David Johnson, Kristi and Jeff Deitiker; his son, Rodney Morse; 7 grandchildren, Ashley Dickson,

Chris Dickson, Brennan Johnson, Bailee Johnson, Krystal Christiansen, Kolten Walsh and Bryce Deitiker;

6 great grandchildren; his sister and spouse, Marvine and Gene Snead; along with many nieces and

nephews. Paul is preceded in death by his mother, father, and stepfather, J.D. Lewis.

Visitation will be held from 3:00- 5:00 PM at Resthaven Funeral Home. His celebration of life will be held

at Monterey Baptist Church in Lubbock, TX on Thursday, June 25th at 11:00 AM with graveside services

to follow. The service will be streamed live on Resthaven Funeral Home Facebook page.

Paul was a fighter and he overcame many battles in his 76 years of life. Due to many ongoing heart

complications, he was given the most precious gift, more time, and was blessed by a donor heart

transplant on March 6, 2012. There were many struggles during the last few years, but with his devoted

wife and caretaker by his side, his faith never wavered. Although our hearts are hurting because he is no

longer with us, we are thankful he is Home with his Lord and Savior and no longer in pain.

There was nothing that was more valuable to Paul than family. He loved spending quality time with his

family during the holidays, special celebrations or taking advantage of any opportunity to be together.

Paul’s children and grandchildren were his pride and joy! He traveled many miles to attend athletic

events, recitals, the birth of great grandchildren, weddings, and even camping/fishing trips with his son

and son in laws. He beamed with pride and could talk your ear off as he shared stories about the ones he

loved.

Paul’s journey of life was plentiful. In his early years, Paul could be found pittling in the garage, working

on his vehicles; he enjoyed playing golf with friends and going camping or fishing. He loved to take his

family on vacations and continued these travel adventures with his wife later in life. Paul was an avid

Texas Tech fan and enjoyed attending football games with friends and cheering on his Red Raiders. He

and Delilah enjoyed watching sporting events such as football, basketball, baseball and volleyball, just to

name a few. After retirement, Paul was able to combine his love of travel with work, by driving for car

dealerships transporting cars from one city to another.

Paul’s greatest gifts are his heart of gold and his love for the Lord! His proudest accomplishment is his

family who he loved more than words can express. Paul taught his family to follow Christ, love big, work

hard, believe in yourself and follow your dreams. He never met a stranger and he loved sharing his

stories to anyone who would listen. He was especially proud to share his heart transplant story and his

“gift of life” from his heart donor.

The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the many doctors, nurses, and medical professionals
