Doretta R. Priebe

Doretta R. Priebe, 84, of Livonia, passed away Tuesday, May 4, 2021. Doretta was born on August 29, 1936 in Detroit, Michigan to Dale R. and Violet M. (nee: Gribben) Strong. Doretta was the youngest of four girls in the Strong family. As a youth, Doretta played softball and began her lifelong passion for bowling. She graduated in 1954 from Redford High School. During her high school years she met her future husband at a mutual friend's birthday party. She married Robert Priebe on September 15, 1956. Together they raised their family in Livonia. With Bob, she continued to enjoy bowling and took up fishing. Doretta also liked to knit, play cards including bridge and pinochle, play board games with her family, and was rarely seen without a puzzle in her hand. During the time her children attended Jefferson Elementary School she volunteered in the library, classroom and on fundraising projects. At Woodhaven Retirement Community in Livonia, Doretta volunteered to run games, go on day-trips, and assist at holiday parties. She loved to follow and watch the Detroit Red Wings and Tigers. She loved, even more, to attend concerts and sports events involving her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and cheer them on.

Doretta is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Robert, children, Lee Ann (Steven) Sparks, Russell (Cyndi) Priebe, Lynn (Brian) Adorjan, and Lisa (Dan) O'Dea; sister, Betty Liston; grandchildren, Tami Kirn, Troy Priebe, Alan (Melissa) Adorjan, Daniel Adorjan, Elizabeth Sparks, Quinlan Sparks, Emily O'Dea, and Amanda O'Dea; six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to her parents, Doretta was predeceased by her sisters, Ethel Nagel and Mary Hill.

Family and friends may visit on Wednesday, May 12, 2021 from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday, May 13, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. until the time the funeral at 11:00 a.m. at Harry J. Will Funeral Home 37000 West Six Mile Road, Livonia, Michigan.
