I knew Alan for 35 years from my days in the electrical supply industry.
My condolences to all of his family and friends.

Dear Sandy, 
I am so sad about Alan's passing.    Last February when you and Alan came to my 75th birthday party, I was so  delighted to see you both.  I spent more time than I should have with both of you, and Sharon and Marty.  I felt a little guilty about not circulating more, but it was so much fun being with you!  Now I am really happy and grateful that I had the opportunity to spend some time with Alan.
